The First Flying Field

What happened to the original Flying Field? Take me here now

In the very early days of flight at Filton a simple grass field was used to fly aircraft

The original location of the company flying field was described as 'opposite Fairlawn Avenue' and we don't have very much evidence of what was there. In 1916, as the company site expanded, this field was replaced with a new airfield at the location that became Filton Airport. A new restroom was built on the site of the original field for the large numbers of women who came to work at Filton during WWI.
